Food Items Distribution to Widow Mothers

On the occassion of Holy Akshay Tritiya day (6th May, 2011) ration, consisting of 2 kg Rice, 2 kg Wheat flour, 1 kg Salt, 1/2 kg Mustard oil, 1/2 kg Dal, 1/4 kg Sugar and a Soap, was distributed to 600 poor widow mothers through the kind donation received from devotees.



  • Assistance to the underprivileged was rendered in the form of educational aid, school dress and books, socks to the poor in winter, spectacles to old persons, house rent for poor widows, aid for referral treatment, monetary help for cremation, marriages, food grains, sarees & dhotis, medicines, blankets, rickshaw fare to the poor patients & widows etc., to the tune of Rs.1,65,11,844/-during the year to 48,567 beneficiaries.

  • Scholarships & Prizes worth Rs.3,28,725/- were distributed to 199 meritorious students belonging to various schools in Schools & Colleges of Vrindavan & around and few poor girl students of our 'Nivedita School of Nursing'. Our gratitude to the sponsors of the Prizes & Scholarships Swami Suvirananda, Trustee, Belur Math, Lalitha Babhuta Scholarships, B.L. Saraswat, Agra, Ramachand Jaising, Mumbai.

  • TB patients & Physically Challenged: We have provided food grains ration along with quality medicines to 100 TB patients and physically challenged persons.

  • Distribution of Blankets & Clothing: Apart from that given to the widow mothers of Vrindaban on the occasion of Holy Mother's Birthday, another 500 blankets were distributed to the poor of different remote villages of Brajdham, including the poor on the streets of Vrindaban, during the winter with the kind donation of Sri Baidyanath Ayurvedic Bhawan, Nagpur and other generous donors. Bundles of clothing (old and new) were distributed to many other poor people in remote villages all through the year. ITC Limited provided new clothes in huge quantity through our headquarters for free distribution among the poor and destitute in and around Vrindavan.

  • Bala Vikas Kendra: Swami Vivekananda Bala Vikas Kendra
    has Two units of Non-formal School, one at Panighat (Old Ashrama) and another at Shyamanagar were conducted with the aim of promoting physical, mental and spiritual development of children. More than 200 children took part in both these units. The main activities included regular tuition classes, group prayer, cultural activities and games. Children were given green peas, biscuits, bananas, apples, bread, bun, milk and other cooked nutritious food along with the seasonal fruits alternatively. School bags, school uniforms, bathing-soap, washing powder, coconut oil, tooth brush, and tooth paste, note books, etc. were also given to the children. Regular health check-ups were conducted by paediatricians and medicines were given free of cost where necessary. Our heartfelt gratitude to the Powerlinks Transmission Limited, New Delhi for their continued support to provide nutritious food to all the children of these two units and thus helping in eradication of malnutrition of children.

    4. Widow Welfare

    Welfare of widow mothers & the poor: We extend warm gratitude to Paramahansa Yogananda Public Charitable Trust, New Delhi for their contribution towards the full-free medical treatment for the destitute widow mothers of Vrindavan . All the widow mothers in need of medical treatment are given full-free treatment in our Charitable Hospital which includes medicines, investigations, in-patient services including surgeries.
    With the aid and support from the Paramahansa Yogananda Public Charitable Trust, Kirpalani Foundation , South America; Sri Surendra Mohan , Delhi, Bani Jagtiani Trust , Delhi, Smt. Mohini Devi Somani & Family , Delhi, Ramakrishna Mission Headquarters , Belur Math and other generous donors, we have continued distributing food materials such as rice, wheat flour, pulses, sugar, salt, tea, milk powder, cooking oil, soap etc. to 1600 poor widows every month needed for one month . Blanket, dhoti, oil, two soaps, and socks were distributed to 1600 poor widows on the sacred Birthday of Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi. Other than these, about 800 more widow mothers were given food ration on the Holy Akshaya Tritiya, Akshaya Navami and Pitri Amavasya days

  • Evening OPD at Panighat (old ashrama):
    The premises of our old campus is being utilised for operating an evening OPD for the benefit of the poor people living in and around Panighat. Homeopathy departments are run from here. During this year 5,861 patients were treated at the evening OPD. All the patients are given free medicines for 6 days.

  • Child Eye Sight Project:
    In association with the Blind Foundation for India (BFI),USA eye screening and treatment camps were held at 21 schools in the villages of Mathura district on Wednesdays with the help of the vehicle provided by them. In all 3,692 children were examined. Free medicines and eye drops were given to 1,990 children. 84 spectacles were also distributed. 17 children were admitted at the Sevashrama hospital for cataract and other eye ailments whenever needed in which 8 of them were operated for cataract.

    5. Swami Vivekananda Bal Vikas Kendra - School Bag Distribution

    Swami Vivekananda Bal Vikas Kendra has been providing its services to the poor slum children an opportunity to read and write. The informal school is held every evening except on Sundays. The poor children are provided with biscuits regularly. Occasionally they are provided with fruits, chappals, socks, note books and pen.

    On 28th October, 2010 Gas Authority of India Limited - Agra, distributed school bags to 77 under privileged children from the slum. The small informal gathering started with chanting of prayers by the children. This was followed by a small introduction on the activities of the Bal Vikas Kendra.

    This was followed by distribution of School Bags to the poor children by the authorities of GAIL, Agra. We are thankful to Gas Authority of India Limited - Agra, for their kind generosity to provide School Bags for the poor and under privileged children from the Slum.
